Walk through the capital and discover how its parks, buildings and markets tell the story of Costa Rica.
The experience
We begin at Democracy Plaza, in front of the former Bellavista Barracks, now the National Museum. This is where one of the country’s defining events took place: the abolition of the army in 1948.
We continue through parks and avenues that reveal Costa Rican identity, from the National Campaign of 1856–1857 to republican architecture, European influence and daily city life.
The tour ends at the Central Market, the perfect place to taste traditional food, talk with local merchants and find gifts made in Costa Rica.
The events and ideas that shaped modern Costa Rica.
Theatres, former military buildings, churches and city landmarks.
Parks, coffee, markets and conversations at the rhythm of the capital.
